Size & Length Guide

How many metres of unstitched fabric your outfit actually needs — with a table to send your tailor.

Last updated 1 September 2026

Unstitched fabric is sold by the metre and cut to your chosen length. This is the single most common question we get, so here is the table we use ourselves.

Metres available on every fabric

  • 4 Meter — shirts, kurtas, light two-pieces.
  • 4.5 Meter — two-piece suits with room for a waistcoat.
  • 5 Meter — three-piece suits and sherwani.
  • 7 Meter — full baraat and heavily embroidered formals.

The exact lengths available for a given fabric are listed in the size selector on its product page. If the length you need is not shown, WhatsApp us — we cut any metre length from 3 to 8.

How to measure your body

  1. Chest — around the fullest part, under the arms, keeping the tape level.
  2. Waist — around the natural waist, not the trousers line.
  3. Shoulder — across the back, shoulder bone to shoulder bone.
  4. Sleeve — shoulder seam to wrist, with the arm slightly bent.
  5. Length — from the base of the neck to where you want the garment to end.

Send us those five on WhatsApp and we will tell you exactly which metre length to order for your tailor — including their usual allowances.

Cutting allowances

Your tailor will need about 2–3 inches per seam plus whatever allowance they work with. We cut to the full metre you order with nothing deducted, so the finished garment is always longer than the pattern.
